Client: Goldsmiths University of London
Architect: Stride Treglown
Contractor: Willmott Dixon
Duration: 7 months
The new building is situated at the top of the College Green and replaces the previous temporary accommodation. It is the new centre for the Department of Media and Communications, allowing different sections of the department currently scattered across the campus, to centralise into a single purpose-built space.
SJE completed the new university building in time for the new start of term. Works completed in the supply and fit package included acoustic laminated door sets and ironmongery, first and second fix carpentry works, washroom fit out, acoustic panelling, lecture theatres, reception desk and the full FFE fit out package to the classrooms.
Working on the Goldsmiths New Academic building in Lewisham with the S J Eastern team was a pleasure – from start to finish and beyond into the defects stage. They stood out among all the other contractors in the way they managed their own works and coordinated with others. The quality of work produced and their proactive approach was also acknowledged and commended by the client as well as our team of managers based on site. I look forward to working with them again in the near future.
